Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for our first meeting of the year at the Durango Arts Center and special entertainment by Twenty Moons. It was my great honor to present our 2016 Volunteer of the Year award to the DFA newsletter editor Myriam Palmer. What a deserving recipient.
At our January meeting we approved $23,000 worth of grants to be distributed in 2017. Special thanks to Carol Bruno and her committee who invested their time and expertise to review and recommend these distributions. Truly this is the heart of our organization and so very rewarding to see our fundraising put to such good use.
Our new fundraising board members Loraine Sufficool and Judy Fairchild are looking for event chairs to organize activities for 2017. Your active participation helps build friendships, generates grant income for future years and keeps our social schedules interesting and busy. Thank you for your hard work and your support and encouragement as we start this next year of ‘fun’ fundraising. Details of our first fundraising event “Get Fused” scheduled for Feb. 21st is listed below.
Our next membership meeting will be held on March 9th at the new Stillwater Foundation location at the Crossroads Center next to Katzin Music. 10 a.m. social followed by a business meeting at 10:30 and program by the Stillwater Foundation, one of our grant recipients. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us there.
